Energy Conservation : Fresh Air-ed Bungalows for a natural experience
Our property sits at an elevation of approximately 1750 ft above sea level. We are uniquely positioned on the continental divide between two volcanoes which allow us to experience much cooler, fresher & breezier weather than the lower elevation coastal areas most all of the year. As a result , 98% of our guests are pleasantly surprised at how well they sleep & how comfortable their stay is without conditioned air.
All of our Bungalows are open air-ed featuring high quality screened drop down and sliding windows that are strategically positioned to get beautiful cross breezes and for those warmer, less breezy days we have quality well working ceiling and floor fans that cool everything off quite easily .
This, positioned with high insulated ceilings, luxury cool cotton linens & the gentle sounds of nature make for a naturally relaxing environment which results in a night of restful sleep.
No matter the season our night temperatures drop on average approximately 10 degrees so chances are you will find yourself reaching for the extra blanket or turning off a fan!
** Extra blankets are provided in your bungalow & additional are also available upon request

Energy Conservation : Water Temperature
We keep our jacuzzi and on-demand water heaters at comfortable, moderate temperatures, providing a relaxing experience while using less energy. It's a simple approach that helps reduce our environmental footprint while allowing guests to enjoy the natural climate that makes this area so special.
Please note that we keep our Jacuzzi between 91.4° and 98.6°F. (33°- 37°C) and our on demand water heaters in each bungalow are set 98.6°F to keep in line with our natural body temperatures.

Water Conservation
Water is one of our most valuable natural resources, and we strive to use it responsibly while ensuring our guests enjoy a comfortable stay. Our rainwater catchment systems help supply the water needed for our pool and jacuzzi, reducing demand on other water sources. We also use high-efficiency washing machines that allow us to conserve water while keeping our linens fresh and impeccably clean. Guests are invited to reuse towels and linens during their stay, helping us further reduce water consumption together.

Organic Waste & Natural Cleaning Practices
We are always looking for better ways to reduce waste and limit the use of chemicals throughout our property. Our French drain system naturally filters and recycles gray water from our laundry and kitchen, while organic scraps from breakfast are composted to enrich our gardens and improve the soil. Recycling bins are conveniently available for our guests, and we use concentrated, biodegradable laundry products to reduce plastic waste. Whenever possible, we also rely on natural ingredients such as cinnamon, vinegar, citrus, and citronella to help deter pests in an environmentally friendly way.

Donation & Community Support
We believe in giving useful items a second life whenever possible. When our 100% cotton linens are no longer up to our standards for guest use, they are donated to local homes for the elderly and families in need, where they can continue to be appreciated. We take the same approach with appliances such as washers, dryers, and other equipment, donating items that can still be repaired and put to good use. By keeping these products in use, we help support our local community while reducing unnecessary landfill waste.

Protecting Flora & Fauna
We are proud stewards of the forests and wildlife that surround us along the Tenorio–Miravalles Biological Corridor. Our gardens and natural areas provide food and habitat for monkeys, sloths, hummingbirds, bees, amphibians, and hundreds of other native species. We also work with our local electric company to improve wildlife safety, including installing bridges that help small mammals safely cross nearby roads. Our commitment to reforestation continues with hundreds of trees already planted at our sister property, Finca de Fe, and many more planned for the future. We hope every guest leaves with a deeper appreciation for nature and a few simple ideas they can take home to help care for our shared planet.

Reducing Plastic & Paper Waste
We believe that small changes can make a big difference. By using real dishware instead of disposable paper and plastic products, we have eliminated 99% of the single-use waste generated on our property while providing a more enjoyable dining experience for our guests. Instead of plastic water bottles, we offer fresh, potable spring water from the Miravalles Volcano in reusable glass bottles, which are kept chilled in each bungalow for easy refills. We have also embraced digital communication through QR codes for our hotel guide, check-in process, and guest information, allowing our office to operate almost entirely paper-free.
